Fishing in The Everglades

Capt. Scott Taylor
May 5, 2017
Pagosa Springs - Freshwater Fishing Report

As I am writing this, it is blowing a steady 18 knots, but we are still going to go out. The wind has been relentless this past month. The good thing about the Glades, is there are plenty of places to hide. The tough part is hiding where the fish are, especially for the fly fisherman. It might take 4 or 5 stops to locate fish depending on how the wind ( knots and direction) is affecting the tide to pattern the fish. Some of the bait guides I know, love to fish the shorelines that the wind is blowing into. That is not going to happen with the fly guys and gals.

Back in Colorado the rivers are getting muddy and high with spring run off and even more snow last week. 15 inches on Wolf Creek Pass to add to the snow pack. We will be back on June 1st to start guiding for the summer in the San Juans, and back to the Glades in October.
