Long Island Sound - Saltwater Fishing Report

On Fri. 6/13 George Chase and crew enjoyed a beautiful evening trip that saw calm waters, great sunset views, and good fishing. We started looking for topwater action on the Watch Hill reefs but the fish were not there. We headed over to the race and caught some blues diamond jigging. On the troll we started catching bass and blues with Rob Friemuth landing the big fish of the night(38"r). Finished the night with live eels and a few more bass/bluefish. On Sat. the Mark Chase crew(no relation to George) found the strong moon tide and numerous boats in the race make for difficult catching. Wed. Chris Maupin's trip at the race had everyone catch a keeper bass and a few bluefish despite a short window of opportunity at the slow part of the strong Ebb tide. Thursday Shane and Christina were able to catch some keeper fluke up to 23" despite windy/foggy conditions. No action at the Watch Hill Reefs and rough seas prevented us from any effort for stripers.

Long Island Sound Fishing Forecast:

Weakening tides for this weekend should improve fishing for everyone.
