Long Island Sound - Saltwater Fishing Report
The fishing in western Long Island Sound has been excellent, from the Norwalk Islands to Branford. Large schools of Bluefish, feeding on the surface, have provided fly fishermen with some pretty intense sight fishing. Southport Harbor, Black Rock Harbor, Penfield Reef, Long Beach, the mouth of the Housatonic River and the Milford coast line have all been producing fish at different times of the day and tide. Sunday morning the false Albacore and Spanish Mackerel made a spectacular appearance in the mouth of the Housatonic River and Short Beach.
North Coast Charters specializes in fly and Light Tackle Charters for Striped Bass, Bluefish, Bonito and False Albacore. I also offer Light Tackle diamond jigging and buck tailing trips for Striped Bass and Bluefish in the Race and Plum Gut. Fluke, Blackfish and Sea bass fishing. Evening Bass fishing trips to local Islands and reefs in eastern Long Island Sound. We are located in the mouth of the Connecticut River in Old Saybrook. We fish Connecticut, New York and Southern Rhode Island. waters
