Long Island Sound - Saltwater Fishing Report

This week's report tells of two outstanding trips over the past weekend. On Saturday, June 9, the Bindas party caught a mixed bag of bass and blues around Valient Rock and Middle Race. Fish eagerly hit chartreuse and white parachutes, as well as diamond jigs. On Sunday, June 10, the Ward party enjoyed the same results with the bass and blues. A 38" bass took top honors. After catching a mess of fish around Race Rock we ended the full day trip with 10 keeper fluke off Misquamicut and Stonington. Both groups did an excellent job of listening to the Captain and Mate on how to present their baits and the results spoke for themselves.
The bass and blues seemed to favor certain parts of the tide, so persistance is key. I expect the bass and blues to continue to provide good fishing towards the new moon. Also, fluke are becoming more and more consistent. Try squid strips and sand eels behind a spinner rig for those delicious bottom fish.
Weekends are booking fast so call soon if you want in on some excellent fishing.
