Long Island Sound - Saltwater Fishing Report

The Striped Bass blitz has finally arrived. Big linesiders have moved along the Rhode Island shoreline straight for eastern Long Island Sound. We took the Bindus party out for a combo light tackle chunking trip. We started out casting deadly dicks and tiny cast masters to breaking fish off the eastern point of Fisher's Island hooking up with bonito, stripers, and bluefish. We hit the grand slam when dusk rolled in and we scored eight bass from 32" to 48". Even on the way in we hit the clumps and pick some fish up there. Needless to say the fish have put on the feed bags for the winter. On sunday my brother and I went on a scout trip for blackfish, what a beautiful fishing day. Overcast skies, warm breezes, and calm seas. The blackfish seem to be working there way in slowly. We tried a few of our favorite spots but only picked up one keeper from each, plenty of shorts though. In the coming weeks water temps should drop a bit and those tasty blacks will be here in full force. Give us a call if your interested in a blackfish trip we'll give you a special blackfish rate.
