Eastern Long Island Sound and Block Island Sound

Long Island Sound - Saltwater Fishing Report

Took the Kingfisher out Mon. night on a scout trip for Hickory Shad. It wasn't long before we found a school working over bait. We grabbed about 10 and headed out to several local reefs towards Watch Hill. First couple reefs didn't look like they were holding any fish. Not much showing on the fishfinder so we move on. The third reef was the ticket as I pulled up fish were stacked up on the back side of the reef. The first two Shad went over board with double hook ups on identical 30 pound stripers. In 5 drifts we used up our shad on fish from 34" to 46". Needless to say after last evenings success we will soon be starting our Live Hickory Shad trips that run into Sept. If your interested in a live bait charter for big bass, give us a call at 860-573-3614.
