Long Island Sound - Saltwater Fishing Report

Kingfisher Charters report for memorial weekend.

Plenty of bass to be had in the race and surrounding reefs this past weekend. Most of the fish were between 27” and 34” with an occasional 38” mixed in. Small bucktails and diamond jigs worked best. Went over to Montauk Sun. morning to see if the hot fluke action we have been seeing is still going on. Started trolling shad umbrellas for steady action on 20+ pound bass over endeavor shoals. Fluked for about 3 hours with slow but steady action. Not quite the bonanza the previous two weeks. Hickory shad have shown up in the local rivers so it won’t be long before we start the live bait season for the striped bass that follow them.
