Golfito - Saltwater Fishing Report

Both the inshore and offshore bites have been sorely affected from a recent algae bloom both inside the Golfo Duce and farther outside in the Pacific. Folks in San Jose area are actually wearing hats, heavy coats, sweaters, and GLOVES !!! What a "Frente Frio"!!
However, commercial boat contacts who are setting lines out around 50-60 miles from Mata Palo are reporting good tuna and dorado action.
So, we'll ride this out and wait for the fish to come back closer to us. With gasoline due to ANOTHER sharp increase, it's foolish to venture that far offshore .UNLESS, a client want's to !!!
Tried the "Corvina Hole" again the other day, but results were not good. We'll give them another shot this weekend and see if they are going to cooperate. Actually, it was more the wind and heavy swell that drove us home early than it was the fishing. Never really gave it a good chance. Hard to position the boat in that swell.
Closer to the house, I got a report of 4 SNOOK being taken from shore just on the outside of the point here in Zancudo Beach.
AS REPORTED, two of the four were in the jumbo class, weighing in at 41 and 46 lbs. The other two were smaller, most likely the males.
However, when I finally got the real scoop as to WHO the angler was, it turned out to be one of the local guides here who has made quite a name for himself as an "Inventive Story Teller", if you get my drift. A picture would have been nice.
Golfito Fishing Forecast:

We're looking for this red tide plague to dissipate very soon. The weather will change with the passing of the full moon, which is happening now. Then, big tuna and those dorado will move closer to shore where we can feasibly go after them.
Look for snapper, corvina, and roosterfish angling to improve inshore. Corvina fishing really doesn't peak until mid-June anyway, with numbers increasing steadily till then.
Black marlin will begin filtering in too, with prime time peaking in August and September.
