Capt. Tommy Dodd
May 5, 2012
Jaco - Saltwater Fishing Report

May 4th

The Go Fish was fishing out of Los Sueños with Raul Gonzalez and his three friends from Argentina. On the first day they went to the corner and hooked up on a Big Costa Rica Blue Marlin. They fought the fish for 2½ hours and the crew leadered the fish at least four times but were unable to bring it boat-side for the release eventually it jumped close to the stern of the Go Fish and threw the hook.

Costa Rica has long been recognized as one of the world’s best sport fishing destinations. Costa Rica's waters literally teem with big game fish: Dorado averaging 40 pounds, Big Yellow fin tuna and one of the largest concentrations of big Pacific sailfish found anywhere. In fact, Costa Rica boasts one of the healthiest billfish fisheries in the world. Unusually calm waters and short rides to the fishing grounds cement the country’s place at the top of the big game fishing destinations.
