Tarpon and more at Rio Colorado Lodge

Capt. Dan Wise
March 24, 2010
Rio Colorado - Saltwater Fishing Report

The tarpon fishing at Rio Colorado Lodge continues to be good in spite of the weather changing about every 10 days. This March (which is usually our dry month) we have had more rain than normal, and river rising from the water coming down from the mountains. Fortunately these days are usually followed by extremely fantastic fishing, and the high river days last maybe 2 days at a time.

We had 6 anglers from Alabama fish March 16 & 17, they hooked 97 tarpon! They boated 25 tarpon, 15 jacks, king mackeral, mojaras, snook and tiger fish.

Then we had a couple of days of wind, rain, and cooler weather with high water. Now the skies are blue, the rivers dropping, and we expect fishing to be fantastic today and for many days to follow.

The Rio Colorado Lodge is remotely located on the Caribbean Coast of Costa Rica, nestled in Costa Rica's ropical jungle where the Colorado River flows into the Caribbean Sea.  Here you'll experience the world's best tarpon and snook fishing as well as a multitude of light tackle game fish.
