Punta Cana - Saltwater Fishing Report

Hello to fishermen from sunny Dominican Republic, Punta Cana. To everybody who likes fishing for Marlin.
December 26th 2015 I had a luck of meeting an interesting fisherman Mr.Ali and his family. They booked private fishing charter from my company for 6 hours.
I picked them up with our minivan bus at 7 am and already by 7.30 am we were leaving marina Jelly Fish for the open sea and fishing.
Mr.Ali and his son made themselves comfortable on the cockpit waiting for the fish. His wife Amanda was suntanning on the fly bridge. It was clear from the beginning that she's not interested in fishing. Maybe for better. Sometimes women and fishing are not compatible.
The ocean was calm that day, there were no waves. The wind was eastern and not strong and didn't get in the way of using all the lines on the reels.
We started on the Macao direction. In one hour left reel swooshed and Mr.Ali pulled aboard barracuda. 10 pounds and 2 feet long not more. In another 20 minutes the right reel worked and Mr.Ali's son pulled up another barracuda. It was a little bigger than the first one. According to men's emotions they liked the action with fishing.
We passed Macao and continued moving towards Ubero Alto. In half an hour upped reel worked. All our reels are Penn International and they are flawless in work. We love Penn. Good and reliable reels made in the USA. It's not some Chinese toy. Mr.Ali easily pulled up Mahi Mahi 15 pounds and 2 feet long. Him and his son were very happy. Than we were escorted by dolphins for a short while. They made Amanda delighted. She was shouting from the top by which side of the fishing boat we could see a dolphin. Later the dolphins stayed back and didn't interfere with our fishing.
Approximately at 12.30 near Macao while we were moving towards Punta Cana already, suddenly our left reel started swishing loudly and the rod bent in the semicircle. 1st Mate stopped reel's friction and immediately let go so the hook gets stuck in fish better. Mr.Ali got into the fighting chair and started pulling the fish up. In few seconds we've seen how the fish made a stand as Marlins usually do. Mr.Ali very carefully was pulling the rod towards himself and reeling the line. When he felt the line got too tight he let go and pulled up a bit later.
The Captain was moving the boat reverse towards Marlin. When Mr.Ali got tired, his son got into the chair and started pulling Marlin up. He fought it over 40 minutes. We got the fish with gaff hook and pulled it aboard. It was a blue Marlin 180 pounds. Of course it was not a very big blue marlin. But Mr.Ali and his son were very happy.
We invite you to experience same excitement of catching big game fish with us. Those emotions are unforgettable and story of your fishing trips will stay with you a lifetime.
Our boat is perfect for every need a fisherman might have, we make sure everyday, before every single trip that you will be comfortable and ready to catch a big one.
