Biscayne Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report
This trip started with two great people, Phillip and Elena from Homestead, occupying the bow for a half day of sight fishing for Biscayne Bay bonefish. With a look at the tide and conditions, I was anticipating a great trip and so it was. The bones were active and hungry as they took advantage of strong tides and an early morning high tide. Almost immediately we began to have shots at schools of nice sized cruising and mudding bones. The first fish of the day belonged to Phillip who took full advantage of a school of mudding fish and was rewarded with this nice Oceanside bone.
The next hour and a half was a casting fest with schools and big single bones moving through. We spotted a nice big bonefish mud and followed it striking silver once again. Elena made a great cast and we watched a pig bone eat and head for the channel, 200 yards away. After several long runs this fat boy came to the boat. I will tell you the pic does not do this fish justice, he was just HUGE.
With each of them having landed their first fabled Biscayne Bay bonefish it was time to call it a day and head home. As always, another great day on the bay.
