Miami, Flamingo and the Upper Keys

Capt. Raul Montoro
February 21, 2006
Biscayne Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

I’ve been fishing flamingo mainly for the past month, the fishing has been good right outside the marina and you really don’t have to travel to far to find fish. The red fishing has been excellent along with the snook fishing. We are finding the fish in the potholes using buck tail jigs and jerk baits. Sometimes you need to tip the buck tails with a piece of shrimp when they’re not eating to get their attention, also a gold spoon has been working well to search for the fish when your not spotting them.

Trout have been plentiful, it is not uncommon to catch 50 to 100 trout with some trout well over 20” this time of year. Blue fish and Spanish mackerel have been all over the gulf coast; make sure to use a small trace of wire using bait or artificial lures to prevent cut off’s.
