Biscayne Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

The fall bite is on!!!
Fishing has been good up and down the coast. The mullet run is in full affect and the snook and tarpon have been following the mullet up and down the beaches, from Broward to South Beach. If your a surf fishermen the beeches have been good at dawn, we've been using large plugs and fly's working the mullet schools. We've been catching snook, tarpon and big Jacks.
Biscayne bay bonefishing has been productive throughout the whole day. With water temperatures dropping you can find them all day long. We've been finding them tailing early in the morning on the falling tide and working deeper flats in the afternoon searching for mudding fish or vise versa depending on the tide stage.
Permit have been hit or miss this time of year, but we have been catching our fare share of them. Look for fish pushing water or tailing early in the morning. Your best bet is to present them with a 1/2 dollar size crab that they usually can't refuse; It's all in the presentation.
This is the time of year where you can catch a variety of species, If the flats are slow there is always something else to do. Biscayne bay is full of life, there is bait everywhere. You can always fill up your bait well and hit the finger channels or patch reefs and catch a variety of species. You can catch Spanish Mackerel, Mutton Snapper, Mangrove Snapper, Grouper, Barracuda and just about anything that lives in the finger channels and patch reefs. You can anchor up and chum or just drift the finger channels and jig the bottom with a pompano jig tipped with a shrimp. This technique works great, you'll be surprised with the variety of species you can catch.
Florida Bay (Flamingo) has been outstanding. Redfish our everywhere and so are the snook. November has been real predictable as far as whether is concern. We had lots of wind up to 30 MPH and then the following week it just died out. Don't be intimidated by the wind, there is always somewhere to hide out. We fished one day in the interiors of White Water Bay on a day that is was blowing NE 25 to 30, and we caught over 30 snook and several small tarpon using a white buck tail jig. Just because the wind is blowing, don't let it ruin your day. As the old saying goes " IF YOU DON'T GO YOU DON'T KNOW."
TIght lines,
