Boca Grande - Saltwater Fishing Report

Boca Grande fishing charters for redfish has really picked up. The reds have schooled up and as of this post I have found 10 different schools! They have been all over topwater plugs especially first thing in the morning. Live bait has been really effective as well and if I can get the school to stop and fedd you can literally catch one every cast! I have had multiple 40 plus fish trips recently on Boca Grande fishing charters and that action should continue all the way into October. Most of the fish have been in the 5 lb. - 7 lb. range but i have been catching multiple fish over 30" just about every trip.

Boca Grande Tarpon Fishing

Boca Grande Tarpon fishing is still very good. The schools have broke up and thousands of fish are spread out in Charlotte Harbor. Artificial baits like DOA Baitbusters and swim baits have been very effective as well as live ladyfish and cut mullet. Watching a 100 pound tarpon come up and smash a live ladyfish never gets old! These fish will stay here throughout the summer and the Boca Grande Tarpon fishing will be good thru September.

Boca Grande fishing charters for snook have been very good lately as well. I have had multiple 20 plus fish trips recently. Most of the fish are still averaging a 22″ -26″ but I have had multiple fish well over 30". Snook have gathered in large numbers around the passes and beaches. Scaled sardines, pinfish and grunts will, with out a doubt, be the baits of choice for snook in August. Unfortunately the 2013 snook season will open on September 1st. In my opinion this is a HUGE mistake on the part of the FWC. It's not even close to being like it was before the freeze and it just demonstrates Florida's continued lack of proper fishery management.

Snapper and pompano have also been making a good showing on recent Boca Grande fishing charters. Both of these fish are fantastic table fare and my clients have been more than happy to see them.
