Fall Fishing Fest

Capt. Andy Boyette
October 16, 2008
Boca Grande - Saltwater Fishing Report

Its the best time of the year for fishing in the Boca Grande and Charlotte Harbor area now. With as much bait as you want to catch and hungry fish around every corner, a good trip will be a easy task. If you are throwing the cast net for bait you need to bring help to bring it back in. Schools of bait fish are as thick as it gets.

Redfish schools are present at the usual places around the Harbor and snook are at all the Mangrove points. I am still catching tarpon in the 100lb class and bigger and the kingfish are running offshore.

Weather patterns are typical for this time of year as fall approaches and the winter months are not far off. Look fro the action to stay steady well in to December barring any cold weather.

Booking for the 2009 tarpon season has been about the same as last year, with the same amount of trips on my books as this time last year.
