Boca Grande, Florida Fishing Report

Boca Grande - Saltwater Fishing Report

TARPON FISHING CHARTERS FLORIDA FISHING CHARTERS

BACKCOUNTRY FISHING CHARTERS

I would like to express my most sincere and deepest sympathies to the victims, family and friends of the September 11th attack on our country. The United States Of America is by far the greatest county in the world, and I am glad to be an American. It is hard to imagine what suffering these people are going through and fishing seems really small in the scheme of things. May God comfort the suffering, bring peace and restore the joy that has been taken from their hearts. Mine and my family’s thoughts and prayers go out to you all. We wish to express our thanks and gratitude to the firemen and police officers as well as the countless volunteers that have unselfishly given themselves to assist in a recovery and to help bring normalcy to so many displaced fellow Americans. God bless the lives of the victim’s families and God Bless America.

Business has dropped to almost non-existent due to airline shutdowns and canceled flights and schedules. So I can only report about the tournament this past weekend on Charlotte Harbor. The local CCA sponsors the REDSNOOK challenge and I fished with Team "Coma se llma Fishing Charters”. The tournament was originally scheduled for 9/15 but due to tropical storm Gabriel was set back the 16th. The task to bring in one slot size snook and one slot size redfish with tournament slot being one inch short of Florida slot limits, weigh them in and then release them alive before 4pm. With about 100 teams on the water and the snook being elusive, as they can be sometimes we had our work cut out for us. The plan, to catch a snook early and then catch the redfish, which would be a much easier task. By mid afternoon we had caught several small snook and one giant snook none of which fit inside the slot, I made the call to go get our redfish and beat it back to the weigh-in. I didn’t want to show up empty handed and there was a place for the heaviest redfish. We caught four reds kept the largest and rushed back with only 5 minutes to spare. We didn’t take home the money another team beat us out by about 6 ounces, but we stilled weighed a fish. It was a great time and a good day by anybody’s standards.
