Boca Grande, Florida Fishing Report

Boca Grande - Saltwater Fishing Report

Florida Fishing Report For Southwest Florida Boca Grande To Ft Myers

Fishing has been hit and miss this week, with the weather changing from fall to the winter patterns the Redfish and the Snook are on the move. As the water temps. drop these fish tend to move back into the deeper pockets even on the hide tide. Most of the fish caught this week up by the bushes came from deep open spots on the brush. Where we found mangrove overhanging the water 8 ft the fish where 4 ft deep in the overhang this makes for some tuff fishing as the snook can cut you off on the roots in a matter of seconds. The redfish are fairly scattered and if you find a school they won't be there more than a day. The Kingfish action is heating up pretty nice on the Gulf and I have the annual invitation only Palm Island Tourney coming up the end of this month. Last year I lost my big fish to a barracuda that bit him in half, hopefully I will get the money this year.

I took Dave B. and is father-in-law out this week, this was Dave's second trip with me this year and I must say that the fist trip was better. We spotted fish all over some of my best spots and they wouldn't have anything to do with a bait. It can be real frustrating looking at the fish when they aren't chewing. Sorry Dave we get them when you come back next year.

A much better trip this week was with Fred R. same thing happened to us first thing in the morning lot of fish and nothing biting. After moving about 5 times and throwing handfuls of chum I finally located some decent fish. The redfish where mostly small skate reds but we did manage one nice keeper. After the redfish quite biting the snook immediately took there place. All in all we caught about twenty redfish about ten decent snook and lost one nice snook to a vertical jump that wrapped the leader around his gill plate and cut the line. It was a pretty good day. See you guys at Tarpon season Fred
