Boca Grande, Florida Fishing Report

Capt. Andy Boyette
September 12, 2005
Boca Grande - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fall Approach

Snook season reopened on the 1st and the bite is hot. Big snook are still in the passes and can be found moving back in to the rivers and back county. Look at the points of islands and at the mouths of the rivers. Most structure with good moving water will be holding good numbers of slot fish.

Redfish are schooling around in the harbor and oversized fish are being caught mixed in with cookie cutter slot fish. This should last for the rest of the month and in to October.

For the die hard Tarpon fan there are still a few in the deeper holes of the harbor as well as on the beach. They will be balling up bait and possibly skying. If you find an area holding these fish stealth is key so get on the trolling motor or better yet get up wind and make a drift through the area.

As always this time of year holds many opportunities as most species of fish will cooperate at some point during the month. Offshore should continue you to get better closer as fall approaches and inshore should be good until the first cold front.

Good Things Come To Those With Bait
