Boca Grande and Charlotte Harbor

Boca Grande - Saltwater Fishing Report

The kings are here, the weather is great, don't wait.

11-7-03

I’m not too busy to go fishing, just to busy catching fish to write.

Sorry I’ve neglected our fishing reports. The fishing has been very good. We are still getting some nice snook and reds. King and Spanish mackerel are here and more coming. Little tunny and sharks are running with the baitfish schools to. The weather has been almost to good, we expect some cooler temps soon.

Captain Mel Berman joined Merry Beth and I, on Tuesday the 4th. The winds pushed us back inside after one nice kingfish for photos. Merry Beth needed a kingfish shot for here story in the Sun Herald Waterline edition. The photo and story worked out great. Check it out at, . we looked around the inside for snook and reds. Merry Beth landed a real nice trout and several snook before hooking up a keeper. Mel tried some minnows and DOAs, landing an assortment of fish. Lady Luck showed us how to catch em again.

Brightman Logan Sr. & Jr, spent Saturday October the 25th catching kings. Poppa wanted to catch his son some kings and the timing was perfect. We hooked up on two of our first three baits. The fish were not huge but averaged about 15 pounds. We worked to get our limits but enjoyed every minute of the trip. They had a mess of fish to take home and even enough to share with friends and family. That does not happen with the tight bag limits on most fish these days.

Ms. Rutland and Dr. Norval Marr enjoyed a red-hot kingfish trip on Tuesday the 28th. They are serious fish eaters and had to get a bigger cooler to carry all that fish home. When you start cutting slabs of meat from 12 – 20 pound fish it fills Zip Locks and coolers, in a hurry.

Life is good, the winds under control for the moment. The weather is almost to warm and cold days are coming soon. Don’t wait to long to try this great fishing.
