Boca Grande and Charlotte Harbor

Boca Grande - Saltwater Fishing Report

Happy New Years we have a year of good fishing to look forward to.

Happy New Year; we have a lot of fishing to look forward to.

I missed you to but I needed a few weeks break. Fishing was great in the fair weather during the Holidays. We had a few good redfish catches and some trout for fun. With the New Year trout came back into season. They are available most of time now. The very cold windy days are tough fishing but we do enjoy better action on those warmer days. Sheepshead are starting to come into our fishing picture. They will just get better for thru next couple of months. Then things will be warming and our snook will begin to feed more aggressively. They season opens next month but it’s usually to cool foot hot action. Everything revolves around the temperatures for the next month or two.

We did get a nice tripletail last week but no cobia recently. Thing are looking good for the future. We had lots of smaller snook last year and expect a fish filled Spring. Tarpon were good along the beaches and should be even better this year because we have not had any red tide problems. Life is great and spring is just around the corner. Right now the birds are all over; white pelicans and osprey galore. Lots of photo opps. The babies will be in the nest any time. While we do have some cool days it’s much better here than anywhere else. Let’s Go Fishin’ soon; Van Hubbard
