Boca Grande and Charlotte Harbor

Boca Grande - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fishing is great!

Up and down fishing; but it’s great now.

We had some challenges recently but everything is looking great right now. I’m just getting back after a family trip. I was amazed at how beautiful local waters are crystal clear and lots of baitfish. Game fish are scattered and require some effort to locate but have been biting.

Yesterdays we had a mixed bag and plenty of action. They had a nice bag of fish to take home for dinner; a couple of fat flounder, a nice snapper, and a slot red to enjoy. We caught too many jacks and they had fun testing my Quantum tackle. Several dolphin were playing everywhere. We also saw several eagles and osprey. My Doctor shared a great day on the water with her parents and created special memories to treasure.

Today I had a group from Tampa. I caught our minnows as they drove down for the trip. Baitfish were abundant and we headed out of Stump Pass marina at 8AM with high hopes. The fish were totally different today. Our first two top spots we slow; only one snapper and small snook. The next hole was better. We saw several snook pop minnows and landed some nice fish; three almost big enough for supper, 26-26&3/4s very close but not 27inches. It was time for a ride we went south. This time the fish bite well and we caught 19 snook including a beautiful 27 inch slot fish. Off we went to discover some more. We located a school of big reds but another boat had just run thru em on his way home. We did toss a few freebies and slowed them down to get one oversized red, a fat trout and 8 more almost snook. It was 2PM and time to head for the barn. After my vacation I seemed to get whipped after a day or two on the water. Anyway the fish are biting. What are you waiting for? Come see us before it gets cold. Let’s Go Fishin’ soon. Captain Van Hubbard
