Boca Grande - Saltwater Fishing Report

Looking better every day.

Matching trips and weather.

I have folks that what to fish and some good weather; if I can only get them together. Winter finally arrived last week. It did not get down near freezing except for one morning. The fish seem to be fine. A lot of small snook in the back yard; so it looks like no problems from the cold here. It blew and stirred the water up and has settled down and looked great yesterday. The fish need a break for boats now and then anyway.

I took advantage of a day off and good weather to ride along with a friend yesterday. We went off shore and found a few kingfish and snapper. They were not as hungry as we expected but got dinner. We hooked one keeper grouper but it went to the ledge. We had several almost big enough gags.

Some of the other captains have been luckier matching trips and weather. They found some nice reds and trout. A buddy in Cortez said he say some pompano yesterday so I’ll look for them next time I’m out too. He said these had lock jaw but the water was cold.
