Boca Grande and Charlotte Harbor

Capt. Van Hubbard

Boca Grande - Saltwater Fishing Report

Tarpon are here!

May fishing is good when the winds allow us to get out.

We have enjoyed some good action and it will improve as winds back off. Tarpon are here but the conditions have mad us work for our bites. We are seeing plenty of silver kings and catching will improve if we can work fish normally.

King mackerel are still around and we enjoyed some good catches this past week. I was gone out of town a few days last week but got right back on the fish on the Thursday trip. Larry Dean and his wife Michelle came down from Ohio for some golf and fishing. we started off with some big redfish while looking for snook. Then we found some tarpon with lock jaw so we dropped offshore and caught some nice kings. They had fun and a mess of fresh fish for dinner. Friday we caught more kings and some big bonita, plus one shark and a big barracuda. Nice variety and tons of fun. Merry Beth got some great photos.

Saturday we chased tarpon again we found plenty but the wind made it tough to get on the fish. They were teasing us and not staying up very long. It was too windy to go offshore to get away from the company. The waters are still clear and fish are ready all we need is to get some normal weather. The cool feels good and has held the kings here.

Let’s Go Fishin’ soon. Captain Van Hubbard
