Boca Grande and Charlotte Harbor

Boca Grande - Saltwater Fishing Report

tarpon fishing is good and improving daily.

5-29-07

Fishing is great and will just continue to get better.

Tarpon are here and the bite is ok right now and getting better every day as waters warm up. Water temp is 77 degrees and up one degree every day this week so far. Snook are just ok but will get hot with the water temp climbing. Reds are hot one day and gone the next; we had a great trip Friday, then only a few on Saturday in the same spot with the same folks.

Sunday we dropped outside to try kings. There were enough fish but the cudas and windy conditions made it challenging. We hooked several big fish that tore us up on fifty pound gear. I don’t think they were jewfish but one may have been. I know we have cobia and permit around just can not get calm seas and clients to match up. Outside will hold fish longer this year because of the cooler waters. It hurts snook and tarpon but helps hold kings and cobia. If all we have is lemons we adjust and make lemonade.

The weather is supposed to get back into a near normal mode by this weekend. I do have some openings next week so let’s go fishin’ if you can. Captain Van Hubbard
