Boca Grande and Charlotte Harbor

Boca Grande - Saltwater Fishing Report

the fish are bitting, now!

A fishy Thanksgiving to be thankful for.

Fishing has been very good like our recent weather. Snook is wrapping up for the year; at least for eating. Reds are fine and we found a few pompano this week inside. The mackerel both Spanish and kings are still here we had a great catch today. I even saw a big tarpon while catching bait Monday morning. Baitfish are plentiful and are a big factor in our hot fishing action. With a good weather forecast for the coming week I am expecting good catching thru November at least.

Snook closes on the First of December this year but reds stay open. Redfish can be challenging but usually chew as fronts move thru. We will have some good snook to play with on warmer days. Pompano should get better and pick up any slack. We had half a dozen on Wednesday’s trip with two enthusiastic teenagers. They caught a bunch of ladyfish and two nice reds also. We used jigs on the pompano and pinfish for the reds.

Mackerel are not red hot and easy every day but they are turned on when we track em down. They are close to shore and tons of fun in the clear water we are currently enjoying. We had a dozen Spanish to almost 5 pounds today and 5 kings to 19 pounds to finish off our trip. It was fun to have Jerry, his son Jason and son-in-law Ty for a day of family fun catching fish for the guys while their wives shopped. They took home a cooler full of fish for the whole family to enjoy.

I am tired but wanted to share our good fortune while the weather is good to give you the opportunity to get in on the action. Let’s Go Fishin’ soon. Captain Van Hubbard www.captvan.com.
