Boca Grande and Charlotte Harbor

Capt. Van Hubbard

Boca Grande - Saltwater Fishing Report

Merry Christmas.

Merry Christmas and we are blessed with beautiful weather and good fishing.

Fair skies and smooth seas we are getting some fine fishing conditions for the holidays. We have been catching some mackerel and pompano for dinner and tons of ladyfish, jacks, and bluefish for fun. I hear the kings are still offshore but have not been out to try em because it’s been fine inside.

Today I had the DeCessna family from Venice; don, his sons Brad and Jack plus Jack’s son john. It is always fun to have two or three generations sharing time on the water together. They fish every year during the holidays. Today we caught several nice pompano and mackerel for their dinner. We caught all the bluefish, ladyfish and jacks we wanted. It was peculiar that we had all or nothing catching. Either you got bite every cast or nothing. We used shrimp and jigs. Sometimes the corks worked best other times the jigs. It was great fun and memories for John to cherish with his family.

Thursday’s trip was slow in the AM but great in the PM. We went offshore Friday from Ft. Myers on the Sea Trek with one of our friend’s daughters. She had fun but Merry Beth and I are spoiled and not used to the long boat ride. The captain and Crew were great and did everything they could to insure that everyone had fun. We caught some grouper and snapper but hear about how good they bite yesterday. The winds did not help but the boat was fine.

I’m off to dinner but wanted to let everyone know fishing is as good as the weather; great. Merry Christmas and see you soon. Let’s Go Fishin’ soon. Captain van Hubbard.
