Spring Weather in Boca Grande

Capt. Austin Lowder
March 8, 2009
Boca Grande - Saltwater Fishing Report

The fishing has been good. The big Snook are eating our flies, but landing them has been a different story. We put a 34 inch Snook in the boat along with a 30 incher and a bunch of fish in the 20-26 inch range on that same day. The next day the cold front hit us and then we really caught a bunch of fish, lots of Snook if I said how many no one would believe me so I will leave the numbers out. Let's just say they were terrorizing the glass minnows and my little fly was slaying the snook and the redfish.

The weather is warming and water temps are rising. The fish should be more agressive this week, responding to warmer water temps and killer full moon tides. I expect the fishing to be very good. Happy fishing and tight lines.
