Black Drum and Sheepshead

Capt. Russ Walker
January 21, 2018
Cape Coral - Saltwater Fishing Report

I'll Fa Lay for you Par rum pum pum pum, This Black Drum. Around the bridges and docks you'll find that the Black drum and some Monster Sheepshead are in now. Mid size shrimp and an 18" leader and small hook use with a 1/2 oz slip egg sinker above a swivel on the bottom will get the job done. Go from structure to bridge to dock until you find them. Weve been getting them up to 6 pounds. It's like hooking a volkswagen. Tight line, feel the nible then set the hook and hang on.

Cape Coral Fishing Forecast:

This cold front weather is breaking so the fishing is expected to steadily improve. Make sure each fish makes the legal length, we saw a group of guys that were each handed a hefty fine for not staying on top of this. If you don't, the FWC will.

Target Species:

Sheepshead and Black drum
