Cape Coral - Saltwater Fishing Report
CAPE CORAL FISHING REPORT:
by Captain Russ Walker
Week ending June 2nd, 2018
Water Temp in the inter-coastal @ 82.3 degrees.
Great weather is back and so is the bite.
For great fun, on the east side of the sandbar 5' break, north of Marker 54, use a pinfish casted to the east under a bobber on a 4' leader. It produces a 2 to 3 foot Blacktip shark almost every cast. Please be kind on the release. Use a de-hooker.
One cast yielded a 15 lb. immature tarpon, what a beauty.
Big Blacktip shark hits as the tarpon continue to roll outside the oyster beds at Foster's Point.
Alberto and the big waves took the Tarpon off the beaches N/S, gulf side of Gasparilla Island.
As always Boca Grande Pass is choked with boats, Lot's of short tempers-tangled lines and very few hook-ups with even fewer landings.
Try east of Twin Pines at the mouth of Matlacha sound or Fosters Point. I've been seeing some rollers at the oyster leases too in 6-7' of water.
We caught 2 nice tarpon at Fosters this week.
For Trout, Pompano and Mackerel try working the sandbar and grass flat edges where the structure starts to dive from 4.5'/ 5' to deeper channel waters. Using a 4' leader under a popping cork, white or yellow ¼ oz. egg sinker above an Owner 4/0 hook on 30 lb. mono leaders baited with a live shrimp.
Until Next Tide, Enjoy the Magic of Florida Fishing.
Tide Walker Charters Locations: Bokeelia / Cape Coral, Florida.
