Cape Coral - Saltwater Fishing Report

Most of you know I'm more of a live bait fisherman, but on occasion I will throw a lure ever now and then. Most lures are designed to catch the fisherman and I own hundreds. Make no mistake though. The lure pictured here, I have found to be, by far, the most deadly. One ounce, Sea Striker, Silver spoon, customized or course. I ad the eye, on both sides, Red nail polish on the nose to suggest injury, then, I ad a circle ring and small swivel. If the Mackerel are on the sand bar I always ad a 24 inch piano wire leader and swivel. This lure casts further and works better than any in the tackle box. Any retrieve you wish to use will work. I like the erratic retrieve by far. Work parallel to structure such as sandbars or grass flats. They are also good for trolling using the 3 oz. model.
Target species include Mackerel, Pompano, Sea Trout, Bluefish, Jack Crevalle, Small Tarpon, Snook and Cobia. Normally I use 40 pound Power Pro braided line and a 40 lb mono leader, If I'm not using a wire. If you chose to use this without a wire leader you had better buy plenty of them. The Mackerel will bite off as many as ten a day. That's right, ten is my record so far but whose counting as long as they are biting. Here's wishing you a Very, Merry Fishmas Everyone. Tide Walker Charters. Every Trip is an Adventure.
