Cape Coral - Saltwater Fishing Report

On my day off.
Great day with Tom F. from Denver. Huge Red Grouper inhaled a big piece of cut bait and ducked back into the reef. We free spooled the reel, came around and sucked it right out of it's lair. Well Done Tom. Great Day on the water.
Seriously, on the 420 ledge, 57 miles out, there were Clouds of Vermillion and Lane Snapper schools that numbered in the millions. Literally, the whole sonar screen would be covered solid red from 111' clear up to 70 feet and they were biting. The bait would never even hit bottom before BOOM. Fish On!
We caught some 19" Gray Snappers ( Mangrove Snapper ) too using the front 2.5" cut of 6" threadfins. Big baits for Snapper but they weren't picky. Great eating fish too.
I think the American Reds are going to be in at least 140' or deeper from what I saw yesterday but, it was non stop action non the less. .
Talk about out of shape. This AM my arms and neck are totally sore from all the tugging, lifting and reeling yesterday from 110 feet of depth. "Oh Baby. It Hurts So Good." on my day off.
