Water Temperature is Everything

Capt. Russ Walker
February 9, 2018
Cape Coral - Saltwater Fishing Report

Feb 9, 2018 We finished out the week with a four-day total catch of 292 fish averaging around 73 fish per day. Species include, flounder, mackerel, pompano, trout and 8 small sharks. Yes, it looks like the sharks are giving birth in the inter-coastal waters again. Bonnet head and sand shark are back as the water temperature approaching 74 degrees. The trout have been illusive of late, but we found them on grass flat edges where the structure starts to dive from 4.5'/ 5' to deeper channel waters. Using a 4' leader under a popping cork, ¼ oz. jig on 30 mono leaders baited with a live shrimp. Warmer water means the cobia will soon return on the second leg of their migration and that means big catches and great eating. If you aren't catching 50 to 80 fish per day, try a Tide Walker Charters teaching charter. Till next tide, Enjoy the Magic of Florida Fishing.
