Chokoloskee,Fishing the cold front.

Chokoloskee - Saltwater Fishing Report

Chokoloskee,Fishing in cold front.
Report Date: November 10, 2009
Fishing Gil Drake for 8 days provided us with not a whole lot of action.
Generally speaking,I do very well during those times, but with the seasonal change, I believe, it had alot to do with the slow fishing.
Water temp has droped, and wind 15 to 20 knots may have played a roll in having a slow bite.
All in all,Gil Produced probably a couple dozen small snook,3 in the 10 pound range, and 1 snook in the 20 pound range hit right at the tip top as the fly was leaving the water.
On the tapon side,Gil had shots at a few small tarpon and managed 1 to the boat in the 65 pound range.
This past 8 days were slow, and you had to keep casting, and cover miles of backcountry to take advantage of the bite.
Tight lines,
Capt Bert Barkus
