Spring and Summer time Patterns

Capt. Bert Barkus
June 25, 2009
Chokoloskee - Saltwater Fishing Report

Considerinng the wind and rain, the fishing has been somewhat on and off.One day we do well on snook and tarpon, the next day it's hard to get a bite.
Their pleanty of tarpon around from the 10 pound range to well over the 100 pound range, but with the wind changing every couple of hours because of the strong showers, it's can be very frusting.
Were now in the changing phase from winter to sping and summer,so you need to change your pattern of fishing as you would for summer time fishing.
In the last 2 days we,ve jumped probably probably a dozen or more tarpon up to about the 40 pound range, and have been getting many strikes witout a hook up,but were bringing to boatside about 1/2 that many fish.
On the snook side, this last two days has been pretty tough to get a keeper size snook to the boat for release, but we've had our chances on fly.
All in all,the fishing has been pretty good considering the changes taking place.
So cover water and keep searching and you can make it happen.
