Tarpon are Thick in Chokoloskee/Everglades National Park

Capt. Bert Barkus
May 12, 2010
Chokoloskee - Saltwater Fishing Report

Tarpon are Thich!.
Report Date: May 12, 2010
The tarpon are here but the wind has played havoc on the catching.
The laid up fish are somewhat hard to get to eat the fly,but patience will pay off if you stick with it.
If you want to have a good time jumping somewhat smaller tarpon just go to the runout creeks and have a ball.
I ran south the other day, and after 2 hrs.we pulled off of them, and targeted the larger fish.
Got 2 in the air,and blew out about 20 fish in the 125 to 150 range.
This will be going on all summer long, but still, you will need high sun,and little wind.
We had a shot at 2 big snook today but they wouldn't eat, thats fishing, not catching.
Get out and have fun,but be patient and you just might jump a monster tarpon on fly.
Get Out and Jump a few.
