December Fishing Report for Clearwater beach

Winter is here and we are catching the winter species which means trouts, sheepshead, blackdrum, redfish, and a few snook. Bait has still been around this winter and we are using sardines, shrimp, and Artificial lures to produce results.
Trout are the main target this time of year and we have had some great days this month with lots of limits coming to the docks. We have caught most on shrimp and sardines, but when the bite gets tough we have been switching to jigs to locate them.

Dock fishing is also productive this time of year, and we have been catching the sheepshead, black drum, and redfish while working the docks with live shrimp on the bottom.

Snook fishing has been okay with a lot of smaller fish being caught as the size of the bait has been smaller. We did get a few over slot size snook this month with the biggest being 37". Snook fishing will really heat up in the spring around March - April if you are looking to catch a lot of snook!
