Clearwater - Saltwater Fishing Report

Clearwater Inshore Fishing Report
Bait is plentiful both nearshore on the beach and all over the intracoastal waterway (Saint Joseph Sound) and in Tampa Bay.
Even though this is a Clearwater fishing report, it still covers Tampa Bay as Tampa Bay covers both Tampa, Clearwater and St. Petersburg. First up, let's talk Snook and Redfish. I'm fishing for both these fish in the waters near Clearwater in the intracoastal waterway along the mangroves / flats. Honeymoon Island might be a good place to check out, as reports have been positive for that area.

As fall breezes in and the water cools, I'm happy to say that the fishing is only going to get better. The snook, redfish and trout will start to make their trek towards their winter stomping grounds.
With winter tides coming soon, I like fishing the last two hours of the incoming tide, high tide and the first two to three hours of the start of the falling tide.

Tampa Bay has some of the best fall inshore fishing for snook, redfish, trout, snapper and much more. As a full-time Tampa Bay Charter Inshore Guide, I have a lot of fun showing my clients our vast fishery and just how good it is.

If you like casting with artificials, then fall is a perfect time to toss soft plastics like Bass Assassin's 5" Jerk Shad baits rigged on a 5/0 weighted worm hook, or some hard plastics from suspending twitch baits to top-water plugs.
Hurricane Matthew won't cause too many problems for the Clearwater / Tampa Bay area, mostly high winds for a day and it might muddy up the water a little, but I think it's not going to do much to the fishing, if anything, it might be very good next week.
Thanks for stopping by, I'll write up a new report in the next week, once the weather clears from Hurricane Matthew.
