Redfish & Trout

Capt. Nicholas Warrington
April 17, 2019
Crystal River - Saltwater Fishing Report

Bite the past week has been good. Reds have been pretty consistent at high tide off the mangrove islands. Sight fishing them with a live shrimp on a 1/16 oz jig head. Or doing the bait and wait with cut bait when I have casting impaired clientele. Persistence has been key. Most of them have been slot.

Trout have moved out a bit and I've been finding the best numbers in 6-9 foot of water. 1/8oz jig and a gulp shrimp or a doa paddle tail. Incoming tide has been better but we've been getting them pretty steadily. Lots of shorts though. Those 14-14.999 inch trout get annoying.
