Destin - Saltwater Fishing Report
We have finally started to experience some true spring weather this past week. And with the rising water temps, baitfish are starting to show up in our fishing holes. We're fishing the back bays in a few deep cuts but we're also catching some good redfish and speckled trout on the flats. It seems the flats are producing the better sized fish but we're able to catch a larger quantity in the deeper cuts, around 6 to 9 feet. We're using shrimp occasionally, especially when we know sheepshead are around, but the primary bait of choice has been pearl white gulp baits on 1/8 oz jigheads. Most of the time we're working the lures off the bottom but yesterday we put them under a popping cork and they worked just as good, even attracting a flounder to come up a few feet off the bottom and take the bait. Here are a few pictures of this weeks fishing.
Destin Fishing Forecast:
With more bait moving in on the flats and back bays, the trout, redfish, and founder bite is only going to get better.
