Destin - Saltwater Fishing Report
We've still been fishing primarily shallow water for the past couple of weeks but some deeper water around the bridges is starting to produce some nice fish as well.
We caught these four redfish in deep water. The youngest one on board hooked up and before I could tell everyone to get their lines in and out of the way all four anglers on board were hooked up to a redfish. It was a little crazy for a few minutes as we were uncrossing lines and dancing around each other but we were able to land all four fish. The smallest one was 9 lbs and the biggest was 12 lbs.
This 11 lb red took a gold spoon in less than 2 feet of water. That day we saw atleast 40 reds on the flats and about the same amount of trout. We ended up catching and releasing about a dozen keeper trout and 6 keeper reds.
We caught these trout in shallow water as well. Caught some of them on live shrimp under a popping cork but the majority of them were caught on artificial baits.
Don't forget...the fish keep biting even when the temps get cold!!!
