Big Fish, Small Seas !

Capt. Larry Pentel

Destin - Saltwater Fishing Report

AllRight ! We had another great weekend at the beach. While the rest of the country was getting belted with another "Artic Typoon" or whatever the weather channel is calling a cold front this week we had some fabulous fishing weather here in SOWAL. Friday was cool but calm and high sunny skies so I did the run out to to the BIG Jacks with some vacationers that had themselves a blast ! We were taking a young man out on his 16th birthday for his first Gulf trip and I promise he'll remeber this birthday for many years to come .

Not only did they get to catch some big jacks but they also landed a couple fine Gags as well.

Grandad showing he can catch 'em too

We may have to release the Gags till July but it's hard to fuss about catching a big fish, especially when the boz is allready full.

Gotta pose on the beach with some of the "smaller" ones too

Saturday was sunny and pretty but a better day for surfing than beach launch fishing ! Sunday rolled around with a slick calm yet again so I ran another group out to chase big fish. We caught baits first and they all said that was some of the best fishing they had done. I told 'em to stand by and get ready to hang on. All 3 of 'em dropped a bait and all 3 of 'em were bent over within 30 seconds !

No matter how young or tough, sometimes you just gotta sit down and hang on !

A Jack this big will put a lot of folks on the seat or on thier knees !

I think they ended up catching and releasing another 13 jacks beyond the 3 we kept !

I am off to Indian Pass tomorrow to clean up the fish camp.. got folks coming in to fish there for three days the end of the week. I'll have a reoprt fron the "other time zone" next week.

Get out there and catch something !!

Gulf Fishing off Grayton Beach in beautiful South Walton. Red Snapper to Cobia to King Mackeral to Grouper. No need to get up early or drive for an hour to a marina. We will pick you up on the beach and be on a reef or wreck in usually less than 15 minutes. Some of the Gulfs best fishing lies just offshore of the snow white sands of South Walton. We also offer Tarpon trips at Indian Pass during the summer run. July and August have large schools of giant Silver Kings feeding just off the beach.
