Red is Beautiful !

Capt. Larry Pentel
July 15, 2011
Destin - Saltwater Fishing Report

To paraphrase the old cliche'- Red sure has been beautiful this season. A rainy summer morning has me on the hill for at least another hour so I'll post a few pics from the past week. The Snappers continue to be hot with BIG ones biting on a daily basis. Now, as I tell a lot of folks "they don't get big by being dumb". A lot ( most ?) of the big bites end in broken leaders or pulled hooks. Here are a few pics of some of the ones that didn't away this week.

and more and more and more........

Three and half days left in Snapper season and I'm off to chase tarpons for 2 weeks. There will be plenty of other critters besides Red Snappers to catch here in August though. We have all left the Triggers alone for 2 months, the Kings are stating to show good again and Amberjacks re-open on August 1st. I can promise that if the weather is good there will be a LOT of big AJ's caught on the 1st few days of August ! Not to mention all those Red Groupers that seem to have shown up this summer.

More Fishing Reports:

Gulf Fishing off Grayton Beach in beautiful South Walton. Red Snapper to Cobia to King Mackeral to Grouper. No need to get up early or drive for an hour to a marina. We will pick you up on the beach and be on a reef or wreck in usually less than 15 minutes. Some of the Gulfs best fishing lies just offshore of the snow white sands of South Walton. We also offer Tarpon trips at Indian Pass during the summer run. July and August have large schools of giant Silver Kings feeding just off the beach.
