redfish and pompano

Capt. Brian Keith
March 27, 2011
Destin - Saltwater Fishing Report

Friday morning started out as any typical morning in March found some spanish mackerel inside the pass. The surprise was when I rounded the west jetty and saw what appeared to be a school of cownose rays milling around upon closer inspection they were a massive school of bull redfish we did not get a shot at them but cool to see them there. When the tide started to move we captured pompano and redfish using 1/2 ounce bucktail jigs and gotchas. When the bite slowed we moved to some deeper reefs and worked on the triggers and porgies using 3 ounce head knocker rigs with shrimp and cut squid.Remember don't catch your limit limit your catch.

Destin Fishing Forecast:

pompano should be arriving any day in droves next split tide should be good.

Target Species:

pompano and redfish
