The bite was good

Capt. Greg Stamper
January 2, 2018
Estero Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

So here we are in 2018 receiving a nice push of cold air on day one. Up to today the bit was good in the back bays and near shore wrecks and reefs for a variety of different species. This cold front will slow things down for a few days, however help out on others. Pompano, black drum, trout, and tripletail are about to go off! Based on the last few weeks of catching, I'd say we're in for a lot of sheepshead to target throughout the next months. We did catch some pompano, although they weren't thick yet. Tripletail we're around with a few 10-15 pound fish caught, as this cold air will push more from the North to us. Finally trout fishing has started up full speed as the salinity levels increase throughout the region. Mostly that's what will take top billing for me, minus a few redfish and blackdrum mixed in at times. Tight lines Capt Greg
