A Change of Scenery

Estero Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

My best friend has been wanting to come down from Tampa to go fishing for quite sometime. The last time we fished down here, which was years ago, it was in Estero Bay. So for this trip I asked him to meet me in Matlacha. Needless to say, we had another memorable fishing adventure with well over 25 decent sized snook, snapper, and 4 average sized redfish.

Snook would only eat quality white bait, no pinfish. We used 25lb test leader and 3/0 Owner hooks. There were two large snook that broke off. My advice is to tighten down your drag, check your knots and leader, and CRANK that fish out of the mangroves.

Redfish schools have shown up again. We were able to land four average sized fish. There were two other boats around us and they had a chance to get in on the action. White bait and a 3/0 Owner hook on 25lb test.
