Estero Bay: Big Redfish & Sheepshead

Capt. Joe Angius
February 3, 2015
Estero Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

The bay is holding a lot of quality redfish. The question is, how do you catch them? A great tip would be to scan a flat or mangrove line to physically see the fish. When you have located them, slowly move off of the spot, anchor up and be patient.

Redfish are eating cut white bait and live shrimp. They have been active, but takes some time for them to chew. Use 25lb leader with a 3/0 hook.

Sheepshead are all over the mangroves and looking for crabs or pieces of shrimp. They will be more comfortable eating on an outgoing tide in deeper water.

Have fun doing what you're doing and don't get too frustrated. Be confident in your methods for catching these fish and don't be afraid to try new techniques.
