Estero Bay: Redfish-Trout-Snook

Capt. Joe Angius
November 17, 2014
Estero Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

Redfish are very plentiful and range from all different sizes. On high water, oyster bars and mangrove islands are my go to. As the tide goes out and gets low, I begin my search for schools on the grass flats. Free lined shrimp and cut white bait works great and if the fish are close enough, I'll start to use mangrove crabs.

Trout are moving toward the back bay and can be found on any HEALTHY grass flat. White bait and shrimp have been working wonders. Look for the schools of glass minnows on top of the water and usually the big trout will follow.

Snook can be caught at the mouths of rivers and back in the creeks. They haven't been shy at all and sight casting to them has been a breeze. Shrimp will work, but the more preferable bait would be white bait, pinfish, and creek chubs.
