Estero Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report
If action is what you are looking for then the nearhsore waters is the place to be. Anglers can choose either the reefs or off the beaches depending on what they are after, Spanish mackerel, silver trout, small grouper, and ladyfish are daily catches on the reef. Shrimp tipped jig heads or #1 circle hooks with split shot will work fine. If big game is what you are after there are plenty of sharks off the beaches. Get a good chum slick going using, get some lines out with cut ladyfish, frozen threadfin herrings, or any bleeding bait and get ready. Might take 15-20 minutes for the first shark to show, but once they are around the action is constant. Blacktips, spinners, bulls, and even a few hammerheads have been caught with this set-up. The redfish bite in the back bays is best on high water. Try fishing either the last portion of incoming or first portion of outgoing for the best results. Shrimp under floats seems to be the best method with shrimp tipped jig heads a close second. Anglers can also expect to pick up snapper and sheepshead with this set-up.
