Estero Bay Report

Capt. Jon Fetter
September 23, 2014
Estero Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

Anglers looking for good action this time of year should fish the grass flats and nearby mangroves and oyster bars for redfish. They have started to school up and will move on and off the grass flats depending on the tide. On shallow water look for them pushing wakes over the grass as the look for food. You can use pinfish under floats or shrimp on jig heads. Cut baits like pinfish and ladyfish will also work fine. As the tide rises move your efforts to the mangroves and oyster bars using shrimp tipped jig heads or pinfish under floats. Now is the time that snook start moving away from the beaches and towards their winter hangout's. Free lined threads or pinfish on 3/0 circle hooks around the floating docks and mangrove islands near the passes will work best. The seatrout bite will also be good for anglers in the passes on outgoing tides and bouncing jig heads tipped with shrimp will work fine.
